Aiken High School Today What opened in 1962 as Aiken Senior High School is now three separate public high schools: Aiken Service Learning High School Aiken Traditional High School Aiken University High School These photographs were taken on Friday, October 29, 2004. The school was closed for the day, and the classrooms were empty. A football game was scheduled in Aiken's stadium that evening, so there were still a few students around. The Aiken administration and custodial staff were very helpful, getting us into familiar and unfamiliar parts of the school. It was an overcast day, until we got to the last few shots... Then the sky opened up, and sunlight broke through. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "Presented by the Senior Class of 1966" ![]() The Circle ![]() The new "Aiken Aerie" commemorative area is paved with bricks honoring graduates and faculty of Aiken High School. ![]() Commemorative Plaques at the Entrance to Building 3 ![]() ![]() Building 3 - Main Entrance & Library Corridor ![]() ![]() Entrance to Building 1 ![]() Building 1 Classrooms ![]() ![]() Building 6 - (added in 1965) connecting Building 1 to Building 2 ![]() Walkways ![]() ![]() Building 2 Corridor ![]() ![]() Building 2 Classrooms ![]() ![]() Building 4 - Entrance to Faculty Dining Room & Cafeteria Line ![]() ![]() The Cafeteria ![]() The Cafeteria and a more recent Aiken Banner ![]() ![]() Stairs to Building 5 ![]() ![]() Building 5 Corridor ![]() The Gym ![]() ![]() Men's Locker Room & Backstage Lighting Control ![]() ![]() The Auditorium ![]() ![]() Back Stairs to Building 4 & View From the Cafeteria ![]() ![]() Patio Between Building 3 and Building 4 - Building 3 Menu Board ![]() ![]() Relocated Flagpole in Front of Building 3 ![]() ![]() View From the Top of the Hill ![]() ![]() |
